The Self

Concentrate within,
think within, talk within,
search for knowledge
and wisdom within.
Act with a motive from within,
what we are searching for,
what we are most anxious of,
lies within us.

One actually needs no one,
one need not search afar,
one need not travel far,
one need not fall apart.
To find love, to find joy,
to find knowledge,
to find wisdom,
 to find peace;
one must reach
the self within.

For the real quest
is the journey to
the core of the heart.
The real search is
the search within
oneself.

When the envy is conquered,
when the Supreme Lord is pleased,
The supreme Self is reached;
One is allowed to have peace,
to be tranquil and joyful,
to be without want or need;
to be fearless,
to be complete
and whole.

Today I was allowed
to have a glimpse of the self;
today, for a moment, I was at peace;
today I’m allowed to be at the door
of The Kingdom.

Today,
is the day to celebrate;
Today is one of those days when
I is at the entrance of God's abode
Today, I am complete, I am joyful.
What have I done that pleased you?
For me to have such a precious gift;
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Thank you, O Most Merciful One.

Never let me let go, dear God.
You know how weak and fragile
at times I can become.
My arrogance is the hindrance
and my utmost adversary;
The root, the greatest allurement
that separates me from your most
pleasurable company.

Let me be nearby
this door forever;
Let me be eternally
at this ground remain.
If this is the only place
where I am allowed to be;
If my devotion had but gone
barely up to this heights;
You know very well, Oh Lord;
"I am easy," "I’m not the kind
who dream there could be more.”
Right now, my dream
is complete and satisfied;
Right now, this part
of your mystical ocean
is so fit and enough
for the stretching
of my new found wings.

One day,
I may again dream.
One day, I may again rise.
One day, I shall
once again be restless.
I shall pursue a new horizon,
if my desires cannot be contained.
Freedom is your gift and curse, O Lord.
Good and bad are the same mercies.
Both are from you. Therefore,
it is irrelevant where
freedom will lead me.
Oh, Most Restless Wanderer,
who is in everything and everywhere;
Everywhere, where you are,
is where I’d rather be.
